I personally a makeup artist and this Blush Hack will totally changes your face
I am the social content coordinator here at Adore Beauty. I have been a makeup artist for more than 5 years and I love everything related to beauty.
Megan
I'll go out
and say it ... I'm embarrassed. I really love blush.
For a modest
makeup product, blush can be divisive. Some people don't touch things, while
others (like me) just can't get enough of it. But even though I'm now obsessed
with adding a bright blush to my cheeks, and I love adding it to my clients'
faces, that wasn't always the case.
Growing up,
I was getting really red cheeks in the blink of an eye. It could overheat in
the slightest and the cheeks would resemble a scarlet peach hue. Does it look
familiar?
Combine this with the fact that blush has been kicked to the point of contouring and bronzer for much of the 2000s, and you can probably understand how my aversion to blush developed.
Fortunately,
I came up with the idea of blush. First with a low tack peach bronzer. Then a
peach pink. And now? You will often find me blushing. Maybe even bright pink
here and there.
The concept
of blush (or blush) has been around since ancient times - a smooth pigment
intended to mimic the natural flow of your cheeks / face. But I can understand
if you are avoiding blush for fear of appearing allergic.
Stay with
me, because I have a shy trick that can change your face completely.
Where to
put blush.
When
applying blush, we have always learned to smile a little and apply the product
to the "apples" of our cheeks.
This
technique may work for some, but for many, applying blush while smiling can
actually lower your face because ... who smiles like they have a secret all
day?
Alternatively,
I have another technique that provides a healthy blush on the cheeks and gives
the illusion of sculpted, lifted cheekbones.
1. Keep your
face completely straight, don't smile!
2. Place
your finger, sponge, or makeup brush in the center of your pupil and draw an
imaginary line where your cheekbones begin.
3. Using
this line as a starting point, apply blush diagonally upward along the
cheekbones.
By applying
blush in this way, the concentration of pigment is dispersed along the high
points of the cheekbones. This creates the illusion of a raised face. On the
other hand, adding blush to the apples of your cheeks when smiling means that
the focus of the color falls on the lower half of the face once you stop
smiling and pull your face down.
Try each
method and see if you can tell the difference for yourself!
Well now
we've talked about style, let me show you some of my favorite blushes so you
can go ahead and have fun!
Hot Mama
balm
TheBalm Hot
Mama is a pink / peach glitter pack that is really versatile when it comes to
blush. Effortlessly complements bronzer and is perfectly tolerated if applied
to the wrong areas.
Micro-brightening
pigments ground throughout the complexion give an effortless glow that lasts
all day (or all night). It is a great for all skin type, but especially oily
skin types, as the powders are great for masking shine during use.

My second
favorite is an absolute bargain: Maybelline Cheek Heat Cream Blush
Maybelline
Thermal Gel Cream Blush for Cheeks
If you're looking
to try a powder blush alternative but aren't sure where to start, Maybelline
Check Heat Gel Blush is a good tool to test the waters.
Chic Heat is
a hybrid buildable formula that contains a creamy gel blush that glides on
beautifully. Don't be intimidated by the glossy packaging, each shade leaves
you shimmering and translucent in color. It's also great for all skin type and
anyone who loves a radiant, dewy finish.
You can
apply this liquid blush with your fingers or with a synthetic kabuki brush. Pro
Tip: Always use a moisturizing motion when applying liquid blush to avoid
disturbing makeup underneath the blush.
